At the end of August 2012 Days of Poetry and Wine, one of the most important European poetry festivals, will bring together poets from all over the world for the sixteenth consecutive year. The festival, which has to this day hosted more than 400 poets, will be taking place in the medieval centre of the town Ptuj. As tradition has it, poetry readings will be accompanied by other arts; several concerts, film screenings, street shows, performances, exhibitions, puppet shows, readings for children etc. will take place in the very centre of Ptuj, which will be veiled in art installations for a whole week. This year's honorable guests will include: one of the Arab world's greatest living poets Adonis, Dutch poet Toon Tellegen and the Slovene classic Milan Jesih. Other poets who confirmed their presence at the festival include: Ilma Rakusa, Valerie Mayer, Sjon, Mile Stojić, Andre Velter, Jose Oliver, Aleksandr Irvanets, Semier Insayif, Andrzej Sosnowski, Dan Coman, Maarja Kangro, Andre Gerevich, Eduard Escoffet, Yannis Stiggas, Mateja Bizjak Petit, Tina Kozin and Katja Perat. In the year 2012 festival is a part of the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012. Events calendar
